Abstract

The numbers of historical buildings in the Czech Republic listed as protected is high and therefore there is increasing interest in the preservation of these historically valuable buildings, which are often find in an unsatisfactory conditions. In order to rebuild the relics, historical and architectural surveys are carried out in order to identify and specify the use of historical materials. The main structure of historical buildings is usually masonry, which like other materials is subject to degradation supported in many cases by static object and humidity problems. In my work I have focused on the study of historical properties of the materials, which underwent degradation processes. The theoretical part is devoted to the history and manufacture of ceramics, types of masonry structures, defects and malfunctions of masonry construction and subsequently technical investigation and diagnosis of masonry. The experimental part of the work is focused on the laboratory methods for the identification and evaluation of historical properties of the structural wall material from the Premonstratensian convent in Želiv.
