Abstract
The numbers ofhistorical buildings in the Czech Republic listed as protected is high and therefore there is increasing interest in the preservation of these historically valuable buildings, which are often find in an unsatisfactory conditions. In order torestore these sights, historical and architectural surveys are performed. The goal of these surveys is to aim towards developing economical design of remedy steps, which would focus on use of non-destructive methods of preservation.
One of the most common problem of historic buildings is humidity, which is often caused by outdated or by completely missing waterproofing precautions. For this reason, I directed my work towards the diagnosis and consequent rehabilitation of buildings suffering from elevated humidity. In the first part of my work I focused on the historical methods of waterproofing techniques, moisture origin and diagnosing methods for determining the value of moisture and proper intervention. The second part of my work was devoted to technical explorative examinationof the premonstratensian monastery in Želiv.
