dc.description.abstract | The city center block on Masna, Ostrava
The aim of this thesis is to find a suitable solution to fill the gaps in a residential block located between Masna and Pobialova streets in Ostrava. The block is of high importance given its location on the edge of the city center. The presence of the historic slaughterhouse, which has been recently renovated to host the PLATO Bauhaus art gallery, adds to the block’s importance and quality.
In this context, the project would be the result of a careful analysis of the surrounding urban fabric, its history, and its needs.
The Methodological approach used in this project to reach the main goal consists of three stages linked to each other in terms of importance and hierarchy.
1. The analysis of the urban fabric of the city center along with its functions, connections, and its public spaces. The analytic process contains the study of the urban fabric on the level of the old city as a whole and considers the singularity of each block.
2. A preposition of the shape and volume of the specified block based on the analysis of the surroundings.
3. The design of a multifunctional building with new housing that serves the functional and urban needs of the center's residents. | en |
