dc.description.abstract | This study utilizes remote sensing methods to identify and analyze urban growth in Lagos State, Nigeria. Lagos State's rapid urbanization has significantly altered the terrain and land use patterns, creating a number of environmental and socioeconomic problems. In areas where ground-based data is limited, remote sensing is a particularly effective and economical way to track and detect urban changes over time.
Using remote sensing methods, this study aims to evaluate the degree of urbanization in Lagos State, Nigeria. Land cover data will be extracted from high-resolution satellite images from several sources, including LANDSAT and SENTINEL, then categorized using supervised classification techniques. Different land cover classifications, such as built-up, vegetation, heavy canopy, water bodies, and bare soil, will be classified and measured for the study area.
The findings of this study will provide valuable insights into the extent, nature, and dynamics of urbanization in Lagos State. The results can be very substantial in informing policymakers and urban planners on the need for sustainable urban development practices informing the allocation of resources for infrastructure development in the region. Additionally, the research will contribute to the development of remote sensing-based techniques for urban land use monitoring and management in other urbanizing states in Nigeria. | en |
dc.description.abstract | Tato studie využívá metody dálkového průzkumu Země k identifikaci a analýze růstu měst ve státě Lagos v Nigérii. Rychlá urbanizace státu Lagos výrazně změnila terén a způsoby využití půdy, což způsobilo řadu environmentálních a socioekonomických problémů. V oblastech, kde jsou pozemní data omezená, je dálkový průzkum Země obzvláště účinným a ekonomickým způsobem, jak sledovat a zjišťovat změny ve městech v průběhu času. | cs |
