dc.description.abstract-enThe formation of stable internally slipped martensite in TiNi shape memory alloys has been studied. It was found to be caused by the final plastic deformation of 5%–10% at ambient temperature. The lattice parameters of this martensite are equal to the parameters of the twin martensite B19′ which usually forms in the investigated alloys. The internally slipped martensite found in the work-hardened matrix contributes to the development of the reversible shape memory effect and it is also a cause of the shape memory phenomena observed at elevated temperatures.en
