Possible Usage of the ASP.NET Technology in the Linux Environment

Abstract

Tato diplomová práce popisuje rozdíly mezi hostingem ASP.NET webových stránek, aplikací či služeb na platformě Microsoft Windows a jeho open source alternativní implementací instalovanou v prostředí Linuxového OS. Počínaje popisem instalace obou operačních systému a dalšího nezbytného software, pokračuje vývojem ASP.NET informačního systému, jeho portování z prostředí Windows do Linuxu a konče na srovnání efektivity obou řešení. Cílem, který si tato práce klade je předvést srovnání dvou alternativ na konkretním příkladě.

This master thesis describes the differences between Microsoft Windows based hosting environment for ASP.NET web pages, applications and services, and its open source alternative implementation installed in Linux OS. Starting from the installation of both operating systems and the necessary software, it continues with the development of the information system implemented in ASP.NET, its porting from Windows to Linux environment and finishes with comparison of efficiency of both solutions. The goal of this paper is to present the alternatives compared in a specific scenario.
