Abstract

Tato práce má za úkol představit stát Island z hlediska turistiky a ochrany přírody. Z počátku seznamuje s fyzickogeografickými poměry ostrova, která zahrnuje geologii, geomorfologii, klimatické podmínky, vodstvo, půdy a bioty. Poté zmiňuje základní historické události od prvního osídlení po současnost. Další kapitola se věnuje hlavními turistickými informacemi jako např. doprava, pojištění a oblíbené přírodní útvary. V následné části jsou rozepsány základní informace o vybraných nejznámějších a nejnavštěvovanějších přírodních a kulturních památkách celého Islandu. Důležitou roli hraje ochrana životního prostředí, do které patří i rizika a výhody cestovního ruchu. Součástí této kapitoly je charakteristický popis vybraných druhů typických pro faunu a flóru ostrova.
