The control of accumulation systems of electrical energy represents a very complex problem, especially in the terms of technical equipment, measurement, and control algorithms. In order to control such system dynamically from the viewpoint of energy flow, i.e., particularly with regard to increasing quality of electrical energy, all processes have to be performed with relatively high sampling frequency. This paper describes key elements of accumulation system of electrical energy including measuring and control center, which was implemented at the Technology Centre of Ostrava at VSB-Technical University of Ostrava. The power part of the accumulation system is mainly composed from four bidirectional semiconductor converters (2 parallel active power filter + 2 serial active power filter) and two groups of lead-acid battery containers. This accumulation system uses originally developed measuring and control center which performs data collection from the entire system, processes the data, and generates desired variables for control units of bidirectional power semiconductor converters. These converters perform control of energy flow throughout the accumulation system.cs
