Zhodnocení významu čínských přímých zahraničních investic ve vybraných zemích Afriky

Abstract

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá významem čínských přímých zahraničních investic ve vybraných afrických zemích. Téma bylo zvoleno vzhledem k rostoucímu vlivu Čínské lidové republiky na africkém kontinentu. Čínské investice jsou spojovány s rozsáhlými infrastrukturními projekty, těžbou surovin a rozvojem klíčových odvětví, především energetiky. Cílem práce bylo zhodnotit rozsah a koncentraci čínských investic v pěti vybraných afrických zemích. Těmito zeměmi jsou Jihoafrická republika, Demokratická republika Kongo, Nigérie, Etiopie a Angola. Při zpracování byly využity deskriptivní a analytické metody. Byla provedena rešerše odborné literatury a statistických dat. V praktické části byl použit Herfindahl-Hirschmanův index k posouzení koncentrace investic podle sektorů a zemí. Dále byla analyzována bilance obchodu, výše půjček a objem přímých zahraničních investic mezi Čínskou lidovou republikou a vybranými africkými zeměmi. Práce je rozdělena do pěti kapitol. První kapitola představuje úvod a vymezení cíle. Druhá kapitola vysvětluje pojem přímých zahraničních investic a jejich význam pro rozvojové země a Afriku. Třetí kapitola popisuje vývoj vztahů mezi Čínskou lidovou republikou a Afrikou, včetně historického kontextu a bilaterálních vztahů s jednotlivými vybranými africkými zeměmi. Ve čtvrté kapitole je provedena kvantitativní analýza dat o čínských investicích, obchodu a půjčkách. Pátá kapitola závěrem shrnuje hlavní zjištění a poskytuje celkové zhodnocení výsledků.

This bachelor thesis evaluates the importance of Chinese foreign direct investment in selected African countries. The topic was chosen due to the growing influence of the People's Republic of China on the African continent. Chinese investment is associated with large-scale infrastructure projects, the mining of natural resources and the development of key sectors, especially energy. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the scale and concentration of Chinese investment in five selected African countries. These countries are South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Angola. This thesis applied descriptive and analytical methods. A literature and statistical data search was conducted. In the practical part, the Herfindahl-Hirschman index was used to evaluate investment concentration by sector and country. Furthermore, the trade balance, the amount of loans and the volume of foreign direct investment between the People's Republic of China and selected African countries were analyzed. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction and definition of the aim of this bachelor thesis. The second chapter explains the concept of foreign direct investment and its importance for developing countries and Africa. The third chapter describes the evolution of the relationship between the People's Republic of China and Africa, including the historical context and bilateral relations with selected African countries. The fourth chapter provides a quantitative analysis of data on Chinese investment, trade and loans. Finally, chapter five summarizes the main findings and provides an overall evaluation of the results.
