| dc.description.abstract | This paper presents a case study dealing with variations on the ground surface due to the underground mining activities in the Ostrava–Karvina Coal District (Czech Republic) over the last 25 years. During this period, some of the areas have experienced settlements of up to 11 m. Seven settlement intervals were used to indicate the varying degrees of subsidence over time. Maps were prepared to show the spatial relationship of the subsidence and to assist in land use planning in this rapidly developing area. | cs |
