Abstract

The Image of Czechoslovak society in the years 1968 - 1969 in the Czech printed media Jana Absolonová Abstract This master thesis examines the topic of The Image of Czechoslovak society in the years 1968-1969 in Czech printed media. This thesis focuses especially on the printed media, however it does not forget the role of TV and radio as well. It deals with various reasons for dissatisfaction among inhabitants of Czechoslovakia, which resulted in the reformation of the society as a whole. Part of the thesis concerns the economic reforms of the sixties as a solution of long-lasting economic crisis coming out from the socialist model of central planning and economics leadership. The thesis presents an insight into the position of media in the sixties, their reaction to the crucial period of Prague Spring and also the changes happening after the invasion of Warsaw pact troops into Czechoslovakia in august 1968. Further changes in Czechoslovak society from the beginning of the normalization period are outlined.
