Abstract

This thesis deals with the dust generated in the steel plant in the processes connected with spillover pig iron, chemicals heating and outside the furnace desulphurization of pig iron. Direct processing of dust in the metallurgical production unit is not possible due to major environmental problems related to their transportation, handling and, finally, using the very technology node. At present, they are sold to external customers as a by-product (waste). Therefore, their physical properties and chemical composition were monitored with the objective to investigate the possibility of re-use of technology dust and then used as an additive to produce briquettes. Within the thesis research, one thousand tons of briquettes in the blast furnace were enforced in two stages. The experimental part was further focused on the monitoring of emission of concentrations of SO2, CO and NO2. Besides the basic observation of sulfur, the weight content of selected elements in the furnace and blast furnace dust mass content of sulfur in samples of blast furnace sludge were also investigated.
