Abstract

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to create three sets of medieval buttons casted out of brass using lost wax method. Theoretical part is focused on evolution of buttons throughout history, particularly metal buttons of late medieval period. The apperance of late medieval buttons is defined here as well. This section also includes introduction to late medieval clothing in central Europe. Practical part is focused on process of making brass buttons, from draft creating to final production of castings, with photographic documentation included.
