Abstract
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to inform its readers about available energy storage systems that are currently exploited and about systems that are yet in the stage of development and testing, in a few instances. Furthermore the principles of operation of each storage aggregate are described here, as well as their basic performance properties and features. Their advantages and disadvantages are discussed in the paper too, since every system has a specific place for its use. In the next article I went on to discuss the problems of choosing a fitting technology for energy storage in connection with unreliable renewable energy resources, current examples of application in the world and possible solution in the form of intelligent “Smart grids“. The last chapter deals with comparison of the systems in terms of economic and technical criteria.
