Abstract
This thesis deals with the possibilities of deactivation and pretreatment of waste Li-ion batteries before the actual recycling process. In the theoretical part, a description of lithium batteries is given, the types of lithium batteries, their composition and use, and the characteristics of their waste are described. The deactivation of waste lithium batteries and the mechanical treatment process leading to the separation of the electrode mass and other battery components are very important in the treatment of waste lithium batteries. One option for the treatment of batteries is the pyrolysis process, which breaks down the organic content of batteries. In the practical part, the possibility of using pyrolysis for the treatment of whole Li-ion cells was verified. Selected battery cell types were pyrolysed, a material balance was performed and the separated electrode mass was further analysed in detail by AAS, SEM, XRF, XRD, TGA. The aim of the work is to propose a possible processing of lithium batteries for further use.
