Abstract
The thesis deals with the design, implementation, and experimental verification of a measurement system for continuous monitoring of nitrous oxide concentration using the non-dispersive infrared spectroscopy method. The work includes a theoretical analysis of the properties of nitrous oxide, an overview of available measurement methods, and a justification for the choice of optical detection. In the practical part, a modular measurement system was assembled, integrating an industrial infrared sensor, a digital interface, and a control unit. The functionality of the setup was verified by a laboratory experiment monitoring the release of nitrous oxide during the thermal decomposition of ammonium nitrate. The work also included experimental calibration of the sensor, determination of the transfer function between the sensor output signal and the gas concentration, and evaluation of measurement uncertainties For the analysis of the sensor’s noise characteristics and the determination of the optimal averaging time, Allan-Werle deviation was used. The proposed system is suitable for industrial applications, safety monitoring of technological processes.
