Abstract

Brick, as building material, is widely used for construction of residential buildings, agriculture and industrial use many decades ago and it is still used today. For long life, it is necessary to take care of the buildings and focusing on the reduction of characteristic defects and failures of brick constructions such as cracks, moisture and contamination with aggressive substances etc. This thesis focuses on the issue of brick masonry in terms of the contamination of active salts. In this work, the object in Malenovice is solved, for which the salt content was determined and their impact on the strength and moisture characteristics of masonry. Afterwards the selected procedures with the results of the object in Malenovice were checked at a farm house in Dolní Životice, where the influence of salt to moisture and strength parameters of masonry was also assessed after determination of their contents.
