Abstract
The thesis is focused on the issue of biodegradable waste, which represents a significant component of waste management as well as an important source of organic matter and nutrients. The theoretical part focuses on the characteristics of these wastes, their environmental impacts, and treatment options, particularly through composting. Special attention is given to livestock manure, specifically horse manure, and to the factors influencing the composting process, such as moisture content, C:N ratio, and the degree of material pre-decomposition.
The experimental part evaluates the effect of different levels of pre-decomposition of horse manure on composting kinetics, phytotoxicity, and plant growth. Based on laboratory and vegetation tests, the quality of the resulting compost and its potential further use are assessed. The results indicate that the degree of pre-decomposition significantly affects both the composting process and the properties of the final compost.
