Abstract

This bachelor thesis considers the possibilities of disposal and recycling of hard drives, that are integral parts of computers and other electronic devices. The Waste Electical and Eletronic Equipment ( WEEE ) processing is a very actual problem in term of ecology. The first patr of the document describes what electrotechnical and eletronical waste is. This is followed by the specifications of hard drives, that fall into this group of waste. The main part of my work is focused on the metods and techniques of hard drives processing after its service life termination, where the most important goal is to maximize the yield of the worth materials and to minimalize the enviromental impact of subsidiary materials processing. The material usage of HDD is the main priority of all methods, that are described in my work. The goal of this work is to assemble the information related to these problems and to provide the compact view on this sectio of the problems and primarily the possibilities of harddrivers recycling as a part of WEEE processing.
