Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with optical access networks, with a focus on networks with wavelength division multiplexing, also the next generation networks and their implementation on existing optical access infrastructure. The work consists of several basic parts. At the beginning of the thesis are mentioned expected future trends, relating to capacity requirements and possibilities of access networks. The second chapter describes the basic units and the arrangement of optical access networks in terms of FTTx. The third chapter explains the basic division of optical access networks. The next chapter looks at ways of spreading the optical signal and the most commonly used topologies, such as P2P and P2MP. Mostly used standards for optical access networks brings the fifth part. In the penultimate chapter is given the prospects for next generation networks and their various types. The final point is the practical part, consisting of experimental measurements and results that contain the testing of WDM-PON and its implementation on the existing GE PON network.
