Abstract
This thesis is concerned with reducing risks faced by members of MRS during extinguishing exogenous fires in underground mines, especially it is focused on the possibility of thermal decomposition of water on burning coal and steel. The introduction of the thesis describes the characteristics of MRS, its organization, basic legislation and concise research in the area of large mine fires. I mentioned fire-extinguishing tactics by MRS resources and I was particularly focused on extinguishing by direct intervention. I suggested the use of 3D water mist as a modern extinguishing method and the use of nozzles on the middle foam with integrated tank of foam. In conclusion, I present the results of two experiments which evaluate the risk of dissociation of water on the surface of the coal and steel at high temperatures and the possibility of its reduction by improving the efficiency of extinguishing by adding surfactants or by using a mist depending on water consumption.
