Abstract
Sweden is known for advanced levels of industries and high living standards among the population. The Swedish economy is heavily dependent on exports and the high tax burden on residents. Many internationally recognized companies, that were born in this Scandinavian country, has changed over the period of their history. They have transformed their ownership structure and moved beyond Sweden.
The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part is devoted to the development of the Swedish economy from the late 19th century to the country's accession to the European Union. This section include all the important periods of the Swedish economy, with their brief description. The second part deals with IKEA and Ericsson. It focuses mainly on the history of theese Swedish companies, their founder, sales abroad and their contemporary situation. The third part deals with the future of Swedish companies. This section brings a brief history of exports and the country's current economic situation.
The aim of this paper is to show the background in the development of Swedish companies, their contribution to today's market and the perception of leadership in the companies for employees and customers. To understand the Swedish corporate culture and its influence on society, I approached its history and economic relations with other countries.
