Abstract
Alkali-activated systems belong to a large group of inorganic binders. These materials are prepared by alkali activation of latently hydraulic substances or pozzolans with a suitable activator. The result of this activation are hydraulic binders which can be used to create composite materials with required properties.
The main aim of this work was to develop a material with luminescent properties and verify its potential use for the surface layers in building constructions. The material was based on alkali-activated finely ground granulated blast furnace slag.
In the experiment, it was first necessary to find a suitable composition of the material for the intended use, and in the next part, the properties of both fresh and hardened mortar were evaluated. This was followed by verification of the luminescent properties, adhesion of the material to the background material and also the slip resistance. During the experiment, obstacles appeared in the form of washing out the luminescent pigment, which was verified by visual assessment and also by FTIR spectrometry.
