Abstract

This bachelor thesis focuses on the development of a measurement setup utilizing NB-IoT (Narrowband Internet of Things) technology and the MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) protocol. The setup also includes the software tool Telegraf, along with the cloud services InfluxDB Cloud 2.0 and Grafana Cloud, which are used for storing data in a database and for subsequent visualization. The objectives of this work include a comparison of NB-IoT with other technologies relevant at the time of writing, and a research of suitable modems, resulting in the selection of a modem used in the final version of the measurement setup. This setup was then employed in the design of a laboratory assignment intended for teaching the IoT (Internet of Things) course, where students are tasked with configuring the modem both using AT commands and Arduino scripts.
