Muzeum současného umění, Rohanský ostrov

Abstract

The diploma thesis focuses on the architectural design of the Museum of Contemporary Art on Rohan Island in Prague, specifically located on Rohanské nábřeží Street. The aim of the project is to design a building that naturally complements the urban structure of the developing Rohan Island area and becomes a part of the broader context of the Karlín district. The design emphasizes the creation of a high-quality public space that smoothly connects to Maniny Park and makes use of the potential of the riverfront location along the Vltava River. The proposal responds to the need for a cultural institution that interconnects art, public space, and contemporary architectural form. The thesis deals with creating an environment that meets current requirements for the presentation and perception of art, while also providing a place for social interaction and community life. The outcome of the thesis is an architectural study of the museum, which takes into account urban, aesthetic, and functional aspects and strives for a harmonious integration of architecture with both the urban and natural context.
