Abstract
The thesis deals with the evaluation of selected conservatories in the Czech Republic during the period from 2018 to 2022. The selected conservatories include Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava, Jan Deyl Conservatory, Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory, P. J. Vejvanovský Conservatory in Kroměříž, Pardubice Conservatory, and the Dance Conservatory of Prague. The main aim of the thesis is to evaluate the selected conservatories according to chosen indicators over the five-year period under investigation. The evaluation is divided into technical and performance indicators. In the area of technical indicators, the number of fields of study, duration of study, number of students, capacity utilization of conservatories, and their staffing are monitored. Performance indicators include results of entrance examinations, graduation exams, and completions. A subjective indicator is included in the overview of the number of activities conducted or participated in by the conservatories. A partial goal is to evaluate the financial aspect of the selected conservatories, focusing on their main and ancillary activities and establishment of funds. The results indicate that the Covid-19 pandemic period had a negative impact on the results of selected performance and financial indicators of the conservatories. The practical teaching of artistic disciplines was significantly restricted. Despite the negative impact of the pandemic situation, there is still a growing interest in teaching and studying at art schools.
