Vliv znečištění na vegetaci ve městě Ostrava

Abstract

The aim of my thesis was to finf out the effect of air pollution on vegetation in the Ostrava region. The impact of air pollutants on vegetation is most common near large cities, smelters, highways, power industries, chemical industry etc. Damages cause by air pollution are usually more serious during warm, clear, humid weather, when high pressure predominate. This leads to accumulation of toxic substances near the earth’s surface. Characteristic symptoms of visible damage are e.g. yellow or reddish spots on the leaf surface or tip necrosis of leaves. The physiological damage can include reduction of photosynthesis, reproductive potential or yield reduction.
