Hospodaření vybraných městských obvodů statutárního města Ostravy se zaměřením na místní poplatky

Abstract

The bachelor thesis “Management of Selected Districts of the Statutory City of Ostrava with Focus on Local Fees” provides a description of the establishment of municipalities in the Czech Republic, aspects of municipalities’ management, definition of local fees collected in the Czech Republic, their connection with municipalities’ management, and application of the aforementioned into the conditions of the statutory city of Ostrava, with focus on the districts of Moravská Ostrava a Přívoz, Mariánské Hory a Hulváky, Svinov, and Vítkovice, whose management as well as collection of local fees in these districts in 2008–2012 are described here in more detail. The bachelor thesis uses descriptive and comparative methods. It was discovered that the local fee for operation of gambling machines, which has been cancelled since 2012, formed the biggest portion of the districts’ budget revenues from local fees. The second most significant local fee from the point of view of its share in the municipal budget is the fee for the use of public space, whereas the revenue from the local fee for dogs is almost negligible for the districts.
