Abstract

This master thesis deals with the characterization and analysis of the system of financing universities, mostly schema_dspacedb. The first part is devoted to the theoretical and legal aspects of university financing and also analysis of the current condition of higher education system in the Czech Republic. The second part is devoted to the practical possibilities of financing the public higher education institutions together with using a variety of projects and provided grants. This part is markedly focused on specific sources of funding of educational and research activities of public universities through contributions and grants from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, from the European Union Structural Funds and grant agencies. The final part focuses on financing the specific public university, University of Ostrava. There is described in detail the characteristics of this university, its organization structure, management rules and the specific ways of obtaining funds to the state budget, as well as the Structural Funds and from abroad.
