Abstract

This thesis analyzes noise levels in selected areas of the Faculty of Safety Engineering at VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava. The theoretical section defines basic concepts in acoustics, describes the characteristics of sound and noise, examines their effects on humans, and reviews the legislative framework for noise protection. In the practical section, an experiment is designed and conducted to measure noise levels in classrooms and adjacent areas of the faculty under real teaching conditions. The measurements take into account relevant factors, particularly the number of people present, the organization of instruction, and the nature of ongoing activities. Based on the collected data, an assessment of noise exposure in the monitored areas is performed, followed by an interpretation of the results. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the current state of noise levels in selected areas of the faculty and to identify key factors influencing their magnitude. The results obtained can serve as a basis for proposing measures leading to the improvement of acoustic conditions in the indoor environment.
