Nasazení a provoz aplikací na aktivních prvcích sítě

Abstract

Modern network elements in the form of routers and L2/L3 switches in today's telecommunications infrastructures have high computing power. A relatively new feature is that we can use their hardware beyond its intended use to deploy containerized systems directly on these elements. This allows us to deploy applications directly on the switches. These services include for example automation and monitoring tools. This setup then allows the equipment to be used to its full potential saving network operation costs and reducing network overhead. This bachelor thesis thus focuses on the possibilities of using the available containerization technologies of network elements trying to make them more visible and demonstrate them with a simple example of deploying a distributed Wake on Lan system on a network of switches.
