Abstract

The present thesis describes biosorption, the problems of chromium, the study of thermodynamics and determination of iodine number at seven different biosorbents in the cones of the Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), Fomitopsis pinicola, walnut shells (Juglans regia), stones from peach (Prunus persica), a wool of domestic sheep (Ovis aries aries), orange peels (Citrus sinensis) and apricot stones (Prunus armeniaca). To describe the thermodynamics of biosorption are used thermodynamic parameters to describe the change of enthalpy, entropy change and the change in Gibbs free energy. The response process for all the biosorbents was exothermic and spontaneous. Physical adsorption is likely to be the biosorption process, is usually conducted at low temperatures better. This fact was also confirmed by the values of iodine numbers which have shown that physical adsorption occurs in all biosorbents but probably will not be the only mechanism for biosorption.
