Abstract
The thesis focuses on the description and testing of optical amplifiers which are used in optical communications these days. The thesis is divided into three parts.
The first part is aimed on the theoretical background, describes the principles of xWDM networks and optical amplifiers with focusing on the Erbium doped fiber optical amplifier. This part also describes the physical principles based on which the doped amplifier works and which have impact on the amplifier`s behavior during temperature load.
The second part focuses on experimental measuring, which was secured in order to validate which way the temperature below freezing point influences the amplifying abilities of the amplifier. Then the measuring was processed with the input broadband signal and subsequently when the input was the data signal of xWDM network.
The thesis lastly deals with simulation of a real optical network for the comparison of the results by using the interface Optiwave OptiSystem program.
