Využití geologických řezů z map v měřítku 1:25 000 pro geoturistické účely v České republice

Abstract

This thesis examines the use of geological cross-sections from 1 : 25 000-scale maps for geotourism purposes in the Czech Republic. The main objective of the thesis was to analyze the available geological cross-sections, convert a selected set of cross-sections into a GIS environment, and evaluate their usefulness for interpreting the geological structure of the landscape. As part of the thesis, a set of geological cross-sections was created, of which 265 cross-sections were further modified, digitized, and analyzed. The geological cross-sections were optimized for better clarity, particularly by incorporating a legend directly into their graphical representation. They were subsequently processed in the ArcGIS Pro environment and evaluated in terms of the representation of individual geological bodies. For the purposes of quantitative evaluation, the lithological composition was simplified into five basic rock categories, which allowed for their comparison at the regional level within the Czech Republic. The results of the study highlight differences between the linear representation of geological structure using sections and the areal representation in geological maps. These differences are significant for the interpretation of geological conditions and their presentation within the context of geotourism. The study also highlights the potential of geological cross-sections as a tool for communicating geoscientific knowledge to the general public, particularly in the context of field-based landscape interpretation.
