Abstract

This thesis deals with improving ground object using geosynthetic materials mainly geogrid. The task of this paper is to present the development of geogrids, their basic properties, separation by action and function. Another task is putting the experience of using geogrid from the CR and abroad. Samples are mainly from the civil ingeniering, high embankments or slopes, retaining walls and asphalt pavements. The last task is final evaluation by modeling the use of geogrid. I chose modeling program PLAXIS. I created a 4 m embankment with geogrids and soil, I put 2 pieces of geogrid. By comparing different alternatives I could use to evaluate the geogrid.
