Abstract

Evaluation of Public Expenditures in Relation to Socio-economic Development Bc. Lucie Lenhardová The aim of thesis is to evaluate public expenditures by function in selected EU countries in 2013-2017. Closer attention is paid to public expenditure on health, social protection and education in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. Current pan-European trend is increasing public spending and increasing demands on what and to what extent it should be covered by public budgets. The analysis and evaluation is carried out for total general government expenditure (S 13) by function and for the subsector central government (S 1311) and local government (S 1313). The assesment shows, that the selected public expenditures in the selected countries developed quite differently in 2013-2017. Changes in the development were recorded in relation to the GDP growth of the given countries, the development of public expenditure per capita, the levels of selected subsectors and the development of a more detailed structure of public expenditure. In the empirical part of the thesis, in most cases the dependence between public expenditures and selected socio-economic indicators was proved. Dependence has not been established on public expenditure on education and GDP per capita.
