Abstract
This bachelor thesis focuses on the design and testing of a battery system for powering a tracking element within intelligent transport systems. The primary goal is to develop a reliable energy solution for the continuous operation of an Nvidia Jetson computing unit within a public lighting grid, which requires efficient energy accumulation to bridge intervals without an external power supply.
Following an analysis of energy storage technologies, a Li-ion battery pack in a 4S5P configuration was designed. The technical solution integrates an advanced battery management system ensuring cell protection, active balancing, and communication via the industrial CAN bus. The practical part includes the 3D-modeled design of an enclosure and the development of a real-time diagnostic interface. The system underwent long-term load testing, which confirmed its energy stability and autonomous operation capability with sufficient capacity reserves even for the most demanding scenarios.
