Abstract

This thesis focuses on the design of a competency model for leaders in an international company specializing in the development of technologies in the automotive industry. The goal of the thesis was to identify the competencies necessary for the effective performance of the team leader role and to design a model that aligns with the company’s needs. The theoretical part of the thesis reviews the literature on competencies, their classification, the creation of competency models, and the differences between managers and team leaders. The practical part was primarily based on the analysis of internal documents and an interview with a human resources department employee. The methods were supplemented with personal observations and knowledge gained through practical experience in the company. The result of th thesis is a competency model consisting of 15 competencies, which can serve as a foundation for the selection, evaluation, and development of team leaders. Each competency is defined by its characteristics, the required behavior, and the level determined by the direct supervisor based on a questionnaire. The competencies are divided into competency clusters that are in line with the company’s training program. The contribution of the thesis is the connection of theory with the specific practical needs of the chosen company.
