Zhodnocení finanční situace konkurenčních podniků

Abstract

The aim of the diploma thesis is to evaluate the financial situation of two competing joint stock companies from the telecommunication services sector by using selected methods of financial analysis. The classical and modern methods of financial analysis are used to assess financial health. The whole thesis consists of five chapters including the introduction and the conclusion. The second chapter describes the theoretical aspects of financial health as meaning, sources of information, users and methods. The third chapter describes the telecommunication industry, the characteristics of both competing companies and the horizontal and vertical analysis. The fourth chapter provides an assessment of the financial situation of both companies through the use of proportional analysis, ROE pyramid decomposition, and bankruptcy and creditworthiness models. The thesis also includes the calculation of economic value added called as EVA Equity according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and the method of capitalization of extraordinary revenues. The content of this thesis also focus on intercompany comparison with a fictitious enterprise and industry. The fifth chapter contains an evaluation of the results and suggested recommendations for improving the situation in both enterprises.
