Abstract

My bachelor thesis addresses three key HR functions: selection, recruitment and adaptation of employees. In the theoretical part I gradually describe personal work, personnel planning, and job analysis, from where the organization can hire employees, the pre-selection process, different methods of selection, and process adaptation. Finally, it is important to note the survey technique that I used, namely a questionnaire. I conducted the survey at a company called Dopravní podnik Ostrava a.s. and on the basis of the results I wrote the practical section. I examined strengths and weaknesses to get an idea of hiring employees. I selected questions that the current staff evaluated as a subjective view of the selection process. I also addressed working adaptation and social adaptation. I found that Dopravní podnik Ostrava a.s. personal work quite well in this area. However, some improvements could surely be made. It needs to focus more on caring for their employees to be satisfied, and thus reduce the costs of recruitment, selection and adaptation. It is also important to explain the selection process to the candidates so that they believe the process is being conducted fairly. It is also felt that a mentor was missing to help new employees in the adaptation process.
