Abstract

DROBNÁ, Nikola: Heating of a Spa Building with a Heat Pump, Ostrava: Master’s Thesis, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, 2025, 104 pages The thesis focuses on the preparation of project documentation for the construction of a spa facility, with emphasis on the design of its energy system. The primary heat source is a system of ground-source heat pumps connected to geothermal boreholes. The work includes the design of the heating system, domestic hot water preparation, and heat distribution within the building, using low-temperature underfloor heating suitable for cooperation with heat pumps. The energy concept is complemented by a photovoltaic power plant with battery storage, covering the energy demand of the heat pumps and other technologies while increasing the building’s energy self-sufficiency. The design also incorporates the use of pre-treated wastewater as a secondary heat source—used in summer for preheating cold water and in winter for borehole regeneration. This approach enhances the overall efficiency of the system, reduces operating costs, and supports an environmentally friendly and sustainable operation of the spa facility.
