Abstract
The teaching assistant is active in the field of special education where he participates in education of the pupil or more pupils together with a special teacher in classes or schools established solely for children, pupils and students with special educational needs and in inclusive education in regular schools where he participates in teaching the pupil or pupils together with regular teacher. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the use of teaching assistants in inclusive and special education in the Olomouc region in 2010-2017. In the period 2010/2011–2016/2017 the progress of number of teaching assistants in special and inclusive education in the Olomouc Region and in the Czech Republic was almost evenly distributed. The significant growth can be seen in 2016/2017 in the field of inclusive education where the number of them was almost tripled. Despite the fact that the number of children, pupils and students with special educational needs in the field of special and inclusive education in schools decreased, the number of teaching assistants in both monitored categories in the Olomouc Region and in the Czech Republic became bigger and bigger. In two selected schools providing special and inclusive education in the Olomouc Region were no significant changes in the number of teacher assistants whose work also presents many complications and risks. Both institutions have been introduced in this system for a long time and have had more experience in preventing complications that may come during the school year and would unpleasantly affect the process.
