Abstract
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of biodegradation of synthetic polymers due to the action of microorganisms. The introductory chapter outlines the issue of environmental pollution by plastics and ways of disposal of this waste. The second chapter deals with the general characteristics of synthetic polymers and the current situation associated with the accumulation of waste based on synthetic plastics. The third chapter deals with specific synthetic polymers, their history, properties and uses. The fourth chapter characterizes bioplastics and focuses on their specific use. The fifth chapter deals with factors influencing the biodegradability of plastics and the biodegradation process. The sixth chapter deals with particular microorganisms which biodegrade specific synthetic polymers. The last chapter is a summary of this bachelor thesis.
