Abstract

This dissertation addresses the issue of population safety in the emergency-planning zone of BorsodChem MCHZ s.r.o. Basic principles regarding the population safety, warning and notification, further the external emergency plan and zones of emergency planning are explained in the theoretical part of the dissertation. A historical development of population safety since 1935 up to the present is briefly discussed here and basic information about BorsodChem MCHZ s.r.o. company and its production of hazardous substances to be found on the company premises are given. Particular focus is placed on ammonia, which according to analysis is considered to be the most threatening both to health and lives of the people living in the emergency-planning zone. The second part of the dissertation is devoted to the application of company`s population safety measures in the zone of emergency planning. It focuses primarily on population warning, notification and desirable behaviour in case of accidental ammonia leakage.
