Abstract

This diploma thesis focuses on degradation of petroleum through microorganisms. Features and definition of crude oil, biogenic and abiogenic origin, bacteria and other microorganisms able to degradate crude oil hydrocarbons and other petroleum compounds are charactered in particular chapters. The bacteria Pseudomonas putida and Rhodococcus species used in experimental part of this work are described in more detail. The large part of this thesis includes a description of process of degradation petroleum hydrocarbons, their methods of biodegradation, preparation of microorganisms for degradation and factors which have an effect on the degradation process. The main aim of the experimental part is leaching of anonymous petroleum soils sample by hand of Rhodococcus species and Pseudomonas putida culture and their mixture.
