Abstract

The diploma thesis ‘Unemployment and its Structure in Selected Rural Districts’ aims to assess the unemployment rate development and structure in selected areas, to discover its cause, and to propose measures leading to improvement in the individual regional labour markets. The first part defines unemployment and rural areas from the theoretical point of view. Based on the determined criteria, the districts of Domažlice, Louny, Třebíč, Znojmo, and Žďár nad Sázavou were selected, which belong to rural regions. In addition, the regional labour market of each district is presented with focus on the unemployment rate development and the structure of job applicants. Afterwards, the principal part compares the selected rural districts, whereas the unemployment rate and the job applicants are compared with respect to their sex, age, acquired education, employment classification, and the length of their registration at the employment office. The proposals and recommendations following from the comparison could be beneficial in the efforts to decrease the unemployment rate in the respective districts. The measures are particularly targeted at high-risk groups in the labour market, creation of new jobs, and the inflow of new investors into the region.
