Abstract

After the cessation of extensive uranium mining on the territory of the Czech Republic, a large amount of uranium tailings continue to remain concentrated within the waste heaps. This thesis describes the waste heap of the Barbora mine, which is located in the Jáchymovsko region, and it goes on to propose a way of utilizing the tailings as a source of raw-mineral based construction materials. The aim of the thesis has been to describe the legal economic, ecological, and the technical, mining-related conditions that must be met in order to obtain permission for mining and for the subsequent refinement of the ore in order to produce natural crushed-rock construction aggregate that is utilizable as per the ČSN EN 13 242 + A1 Standard.
