Abstract

The theme of bachelor’s thesis is to clarify the economic context of population development during the second half of the 20th century in Europe. The aim of this work is to investigate the relationship between the second demographic transition and selected socio-economic indicators. In the end, it was find out that the european population is ageing. During the period of demographic transititon occured to reduction of fertility and mortality. On the other hand, the education and GDP per capita in PPP increased. Eastern Europe was delayed in development opposite of west part of Europe due to political situation in the past. In the present, the reduction of demographic indicators did not. These days, the reduction of demographic indicators is not proved. The total fertility rate doesn’t reduce in relation to GDP per capita in PPP and the period of studies. For this reason the hypothesis of negative development of total fertility rate in these days isn’t confirmed. This work used mainly methods of descriptive analysis, correlation analysis and empirical research studies.
