Abstract

This thesis deals with the history of industry in area around Hodonín after World War I. First part is about the geological and geomorphological characteristics of the defined area. The Vienna Basin, lignite, oil and aeolian sands at Bzenec are described. Next part is about the history of Hodonín from initial settlement to the present time. In the next part the history of local industry is elaborated. Lignite and oil mining, sand pit in Bzenec, sugar, brick, wood and tobacco industries are described in sequence. Last part is a suggestion of an excursion for students of GMT.
