Abstract

The bachelor thesis describes the preparation of cerium oxide nanoparticles (nano CeO2) via precipitation method from the selected default salt (Ce(NO3)3 · 6 H2O). The aqueous solution of defined concentration was prepared and precipitated with ammonium hydroxide. The resulting nanoparticles were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction analysis, which showed that the cerium oxide nanoparticles were successfully prepared by precipitation method from the selected default lanthanide salt. The morphology of cerium oxide nanoparticles was observed by scanning electron microscopy and the elemental composition of the product was confirmed by EDX analysis. At least, acute aquatic toxicity of prepared nanoparticles of cerium oxide was tested, when freshwater green algae Desmodesmus subspicatus served as a detection organism.
